This site is dedicated to VW Turbo Direct Injection Engines. They are awesome engines, but when VW introduced them, the fuel injection system went completely drive by wire. This is fine if you buy a new car, but if you want to install a TDI engine into a project car, it makes the conversion almost impossible. The simplest alternative is to install a fully mechanical pump to run the engine. This gives one cable control of the engine. This pump is commonly called a M-TDI or MTDI Injector Pump. This is a mechanical injector pump capable of putting out the pressure needed to run a TDI engine. Thanks to all the forums on the internet, there is a huge ammount of disinformation and confusion about what it takes to make an M-TDI pump. To research my own pump, I simply disassembled VW's own LT28 M-TDI pump and used the knowledge learned from that to make a M-TDI pump.
